Tissue Molecule Metabolite Imaging Services

Tissue Molecule Metabolite Imaging Services

Mass spectrometry (MS) imaging is an emerging molecular imaging technique that is capable of directly obtaining information on the structure, content and spatial distribution of a large number of known or unknown molecules in biological tissues, such as endogenous metabolites and exogenous drugs. Compared with other imaging methods, such as fluorescence imaging and radiolabeled imaging, mass spectrometry imaging technology does not require chemical or radioactive labeling, simple sample pretreatment, and has the advantages of high specificity, high throughput, and preservation of spatial information.

Tissue Molecule Metabolite Imaging Services

CD BioSciences provides clients with tissue molecular metabolite imaging analysis services based on high-resolution imaging mass spectrometry technology. Our services utilize advanced mass spectrometry imaging technology combined with a MALDI ion source and 3D laser system to help researchers analyze the structural and spatial distribution characteristics of metabolite molecules in biological tissues, including heterogeneous spatial distributions of molecules such as amino acids, nucleotides, and pharmaceuticals, and to provide comprehensive data analysis and visualization of the results.

The results of our services can be applied to disease research (e.g., biomarkers, disease mechanisms, tumor research), drug research (e.g., drug mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, drug targets), animal research (e.g., insect research, animal modeling, etc.), and plant research (e.g., natural product research). Our services mainly include:

Qualitative, quantitative and localization imaging analysis service

We are able to perform qualitative, quantitative and localization analysis of thousands of metabolites in biological tissues. In addition, by combining bioinformatics analysis, we can discover differential metabolites in biological tissues in situ and characterize its biological function. We are able to provide high-quality data analysis and visualization results regardless of sample size.

Molecular metabolite expression and regulatory mechanism studies service

Our mass spectrometry imaging analysis can directly access the spatial distribution of metabolites in biological samples, which can help us to more deeply study the expression and regulatory mechanisms of metabolites in physiopathological states, and provide crucial data for understanding the relationship between metabolites and disease development.

Cancer tissue metabolite imaging analysis service

Cancer cells and other disease states have a significant impact in terms of genetic and epigenetic modifications, which can affect the genomic expression hierarchy. Using mass spectrometry imaging we are able to differentiate between near-mass interferences and isolate isomers, thus helping researchers achieve accurate localization of molecular metabolites in tissues.

Sample Requiremements

Samples that can be analyzed include, but are not limited to:

Soft tissues of animals: brain, liver, kidney, heart, lung, spleen, skin, spinal cord, pituitary gland, pancreas, etc.
Tumor tissues: esophageal cancer, thyroid cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, glioma, nasopharyngeal cancer, skin cancer, liver cancer.
Soft tissues of plants: roots, stems, leaves, seeds, ovules, etc.

The types of samples we receive are as follows:

Non-embedded tissues: tissues with relatively low water content, e.g. brain, liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen.
Embedded tissues: tissues with relatively high water content need to be embedded, e.g. eyeballs, most plant tissues (embedding agent cannot be OCT).

Tissue Molecule Metabolite Imaging Analysis Services Workflow

According to the client's specific needs, CD BioSciences will optimize the experimental design and use appropriate tissue samples for tissue molecular metabolite imaging analysis. First, we will perform frozen sections of the tissue samples to be tested. Depending on the needs of the research, we will select the appropriate matrix to be uniformly sprayed on the slide containing the tissue section, after which the slide will be placed on the mass spectrometer for imaging. Finally, we will visualize the data for presentation and data analysis.
