Imaging-based Wound Healing Assay
The wound healing test, also known as the scratch test, involves forming a uniform wound or scratch on a cell monolayer and observing the migration of cells around the edge of the wound to a cell-free space through time-lapse imaging. It is a simple and cost-effective method for measuring mass cell migration in vitro. Collective cell migration is essential for various biological processes including embryonic development, immune response, and cancer metastasis. Therefore, the quantitative analysis of the wound healing process is very important.

Imaging-based Wound Healing Assay
CD BioSciences can provide you with image-based wound healing assay services. We use automatic microscope imaging for wound healing testing. Such a system allows you to take images regularly (for example, every 30 minutes or 1 hour) to closely monitor cell migration and quickly generate accurate and repeatable analysis results.
Imaging-based Wound Healing Assay Workflow
Wound healing assay is one of the most commonly used testing methods in the field of cell migration, which is used to study cell migration and cell-cell interactions in vitro. The main steps include creating a wound in a cell monolayer, periodically capturing images during cell migration until the wound is closed, and then analyzing the image sequence to evaluate cell migration. The following is the workflow of imaging-based assay of wound healing.
Step 1
Cell seeding and gap formation
Step 2
Acquisition of microscopy images
Step 3
Quantitative image analysis
Step 4
Data analysis and evaluation
